Our Country
Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa, is a Federal Republic with thirty-six constituent states. The Administrative capital is Abuja, while the Commercial capital remains Lagos which, until 1991, was the Federal Capital. Since the reinstatement of civilian rule in 1999, Nigeria has operated an American-style Presidential system of Government, with a National Legislature comprising two houses being the Senate and House of Representatives. Local government constitutes the third tier of representative government in Nigeria and there are 774 local authorities.

Our Local Markets
There are four reinsurers and forty-eight direct insurance companies in Nigeria, with four hundred and eighty insurance brokers. There are also over a thousand Agents who act on behalf of direct insurers.
Our Regulators
We are regulated by the National Insurance Commission under supervision of the Ministry of Finance and are bound by the Code of Conduct of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers. The main insurance statutes applicable are the Nigerian Insurance Act of 2003 and the annual Insurance Industry Guidelines issued by the National Insurance Commission.
