Our Country
Zimbabwe, formerly Rhodesia, has a population of approximately fourteen million inhabitants and covers an area of approximately 390 580 square kilometers. The capital city is Harare. Other cities and towns include Bulawayo, Mutare, Gweru, Kwekwe, Kadoma, Masvingo, Chitungwiza and Marondera. It is a landlocked country located on the south-eastern part of Sub-Saharan Africa. Zimbabwe became fully independent from Britain in 1980.

There are 9 reinsurers, about 29 mainstream insurers and one mainstream underwriting manager who acts as a specialist agent for one principal insurer. There is a strong Broker presence (29) with Marsh Zimbabwe being the second largest short-term broker in the country.
Our Regulators
We are regulated by the Insurance and Pension Funds Commission (IPEC) under the Ministry of Finance. The main statutes applicable to the market are the Insurance Act Chapter 24:07 of 1976 and the Pension & Provident Funds Act Chapter 24:09 of 1976.
