Global risks are increasingly being experienced in the local context. Perhaps the most frustrating part of a risk manager's responsibilities, is to mitigate exposures in areas where they have little if any influence. How can we learn and be better prepared from the recent crises? There is no "silver bullet" solution, but as the WEF Global Risks Report recommends, the approach to risk management should recognise the greater systemic impacts and interconnectedness of the key risks. This creates opportunities for risk managers to be more engaged in the strategic exposures of their corporations.
