Sally-Ann du Preez – Consulting Manager
M Env Man (Environmental Management)

Sally-Ann holds a Master of Environmental Management from the University of Natal. She has also completed her coursework towards a LLM (Environmental Law). Prior to joining the firm, she worked at Deloitte & Touche Legal (Environmental & Sustainability Law), Felehetsa Environmental (Pty) Ltd and Environmental Impact Management Services (Pty) Ltd. Sally-Ann’s experience lies in enviro-legal matters, due diligence investigations, environmental impact management, environmental management plans, compliance monitoring and auditing, ISO14001 environmental management systems, and integrated waste management. In 2004-2005, Sally-Ann was seconded to the national Department of Environmental Affairs & Tourism where she assisted in the establishment of a Directorate: Authorisations under the Chief Directorate: Regulatory Services.

Lizelle Prosch – Environmental Consultant / Visual Assessment Specialist: Environmental Impact Assessment & Planning (EIA&P)
BL (Landscape architecture)

Lizelle has a BL Degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Pretoria. She is registered with the South African Council for Landscape Architects as a Professional Landscape Architect. Lizelle is the Consulting Manager – EIA&P and a Visual Assessment Specialist, with extensive experience in conducting various Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), including Scoping Reports, applications for exemptions, public participation, environmental planning, landscape rehabilitation, master planning, landscape design and working drawings.

Renee Janse van Rensburg – Manager: Mining Services Division
MSc (Environmental Management); Pr. Sci. Nat. (Environmental Science) [Reg. No.400099/06]

Renee has extensive experience in the environmental consulting field with specific focus on the project management of large and small scale Environmental Management Programme (EMP) and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) investigations, as well as Intergrated Water Use License Applications (IWULAs). Her experience further includes undertaking mining right applications, conversion applications, and prospecting right applications in accordance with relevant legislative requirements, as well as undertaking baseline specialist studies in the fields of ecology, fauna and flora investigations, and wetland delineation. Renee has experience in evaluating the quantum of closure-related financial provision provided by mines, as well as having assisted and undertaken environmental due diligence investigations and environmental legal compliance audits. She has undertaken numerous projects in which she has managed specialist teams comprising internal and external expertise, as well as undertaken several public and authority consultation processes. Her knowledge of the mining sector, both in South Africa and throughout Southern Africa, together with her knowledge of relevant mining legislation ensures that she provides a comprehensive service to clients. Her focus on environmental management ensures that she assesses the biophysical and social aspects of the environment in a holistic manner. Renee is registered as a Professional Natural Scientist (Environmental Science) with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP).

Jonathan Sevitz – Consulting Manager
MSC (Environmental Engineering)

Jonathan has extensive experience in three key areas – waste management, environmental and integrated management systems, and legal services (legal registers and compliance audits). He has project managed a range of projects within these fields for industrial and mining clients. He also currently conducts risk assessment for Property Damage and Business Interruption for another division within Marsh, Marsh Risk Consulting.

Karin Arnold – Consultant
Degree in Environmental Management (to be completed in 2009)

Karin has 25 years experience in the Chemical Industry. In this time she covered most of the aspects of business from operational to administration, marketing and was always involved in systems. She was the project manager for the 2000 upgrade on BPCS – a financial computer system at Intaba Chemicals and Intaba Animal Feeds, divisions of Omnia. From 2002 – 2007 she was responsible for the SHEQ management of 15 sites around the country for Protea Chemicals, including Intaba Animal Feeds, a chemicals distribution company mainly handling hazardous chemicals. In this time she was the project manager for the implementation of an Integrated Management system – ISO9001:2000, ISO14001:2004, OHSAS18001:1999 and Responsible Care. In her time at Protea Chemicals the Handling, transportation and disposal of Hazardous Chemicals was a prime focus and she was responsible for auditing waste sites as well as onsite facilities with respect to Chemicals. She is a member of the Chemicals Handling Forum at CAIA and regularly attends meetings on the handling of Hazardous Goods. She has completed numerous courses at Potchefstroom University in the Environmental & Health and Quality fields as well as ISO9001. She is a qualified integrated management systems auditor and will be completing a degree in Environmental Management in June 2009.

Frank Benedek – Environmental Consultant: Environmental Impact Assessment & Planning (EIA&P)
BSc (Geography & Environmental Sciences)

Frank holds a BSc Degree in Geography and Environmental Sciences from the Potchefstroom University for CHE. Prior to joining Marsh Environmental Services he worked at the Gauteng Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Environment (GDACE) as an Environmental Officer in the Environmental Planning and Impact Assessment division. Frank's experience lies in environmental impact assessments and management, environmental management plans and environmental planning. He is currently responsible for facilitating environmental impact assessments principally for property, industrial and agricultural developments.

Cecil Chibi – Environmental Scientist / Water & Waste Specialist: Waste Division
MSc (Environmental Engineering)

Cecil has a MSc in Environmental Engineering as well as more than 16 years subsequent experience obtained as project manager in water use policy, water and sanitation infrastructure design and implementation, environmental management and community development projects in line with RDP and UN principles which aim to ensure sustainability as a primary consideration. He has worked in multidisciplinary teams including social scientists as well teams that include natural scientists, academics and engineers in order to achieve collective required project objectives. He has worked as an implementer for international donor agencies such as the World Bank, in government and in the NGO sector.

Muziwandile Chonco – Water Specialist \ Management Consultant
BSc Honours (Geology); Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (Business Management)

Muziwandile is the Deputy Managing Consultant and Divisional Manager for the Government Sector within Marsh Environmental Services. He holds a BSc. Earth Sciences and a BSc. Honours in Geology from the University of Western Cape, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (PDBA) from University of Pretoria (GIBS). He is currently completing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at GIBS.

Prior to joining MES, he held a position of Director: Policy Coordination and Stakeholder Management at the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry (DWAF). He has extensive experience in the water sector that includes development and implementation of policies and strategies, water use authorisation, establishment of water management institutions, facilitation of public participation process, managing and implementation of water reserve requirements studies, management and development of groundwater resources. He was a member of the international working group that produced the Science and Technology based Water Scenarios for Sub-Sahara Africa.

Kerri Hudson – Environmental Consultant: Environmental Impact Assessment & Planning (EIA&P)
BSc Honours (Ichthyology and Fisheries Science)

Kerri graduated with a BSc (Honours) from Rhodes University, and will complete her Masters in Environmental Engineering from Wits University in 2009. She is currently an Environmental Consultant and is responsible for authorizations, environmental management plans, planning frameworks and risk assessments for property, agriculture and industrial developments.

Steven Ingle – Environmental Impact Assessment Practitioner / Consultant: Environmental Impact Assessment & Planning (EIA&P)
BA (Geography and Environmental Management)

Steven has a Degree in Environmental Management from the University of South Africa. His experience lies in the compilation of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA’s) and Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) for property developments as well as in the area of socio-economic analysis and market analysis. He is currently a senior environmental consultant responsible for authorisations, planning frameworks and risk assessments.

Pedro Kgobe – Managing Consultant
BSc (Biological and Environmental Sciences)

Pedro is the Managing Consultant of Marsh Environmental Services Botswana, based in Gaborone. He holds a BSc. (Biological and Environmental Sciences) from University of Botswana.

Pedro has undertaken short courses in standardization, quality management, health and safety management, environmental management, environmental law, ISO 14000 auditing, ISO 9000 auditing, OHSAS 18000 auditing, integrated management systems (ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and OHSAS 18001) and management systems training of trainers. He has participated in auditing of quality management system for Volvo Trucks and Buses, Botfic Chemicals, and Botswana Bureau of Standards. He has implemented an Integrated Management Systems (ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and OHSAS 18001) for Barloworld Equipment (Caterpillar Earthmoving company with 7 sites at Jwaneng Diamond Mine, Orapa Diamond Mine, Damtshaa Diamond Mine, and BCL Mine, a copper and nickel mine). He has had exposure to environmental management, and standardization in different countries such Denmark, South Africa, Zimbabwe, India, and Switzerland.

Kerry Quinn – Environmental Consultant – Mining Division
BSc (Environmental Management – Zoology stream); BSc Honours (in progress); Cert Sci. Nat (Environmental Science) (Reg. No. 200004/09)

Kerry is responsible for assisting on mining due diligence and authorisations has completed a BSc in Environmental Management (specialising in Zoology) from the University of South Africa (UNISA). She has eleven years IT experience in systems analysis and design, all-encompassing of the full project development cycle. During the past three years she has been involved in several Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), Environmental Management Programmes (EMPs) including remediation cost quantifications, mining right applications in accordance with the relevant legislative requirements, as well as also undertaking ecological studies and biodiversity assessments for various private sectors and governmental authorities in Southern Africa. She also has experience in project management, compilation of Integrated Water Use License Applications (IWULA) and Integrated Water and Waste Management Plans / Programmes (IWWMPs). She is responsible for the Geographical Information System (GIS) / mapping tasks, as well as noise impacts assessment within her sector and with her particular focus on environmental management in the mining industry. Kerry is currently completing a post-graduate degree in Water Science at the North-West University. Kerry is registered as a Certified Natural Scientist (Environmental Science) with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP)

Gerlinde Wilreker – Environmental Consultant – Mining Division
MSc (Environmental Management)

Gerlinde has extensive experience within the mining industry in South Africa. Her experience includes undertaking new mining right / permit applications, conversion applications, and new prospecting right applications in accordance with relevant legislative requirements. Further experience includes the compilation of Environmental Performance Assessments (EPA), Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Environmental Management Programmes / Plans (EMP), and Integrated Water Use Licenses (IWULAs).

Penny Ludgrove - Senior Administrator

Penny is the Office Manager at Marsh Environmental Services with over 13 years experience in the hospitality industry, and over 8 years in administration. Penny has been with the company since 2002, and ensures that your requests and projects are handled professionally and smoothly.

Michelle Leshalabe – Administrator

Michelle Leshalabe has over 8 years working experience in the field of Admin, Sales and Marketing. She has been with the company since June 2007. She provides general admin support to the unit, and on project level.
